Cherry Blossom Weekend

F21 Boyfriend Jeans, CakeForBreakfast pullover (c/o), Sole Society Sandals (c/o), Kate Spade clutch

Seeing cherry blossoms in full bloom makes my heart sing every spring. I love the many sightings of cherry trees in Vancouver. More than 40,000 if you can believe it! Most originated as gifts from Japan, these beautiful trees have forever transformed our city. I'm happy that we got to capture its beauty last weekend. This casual look with a simple pullover and ripped boyfriend jeans was perfect for running errands, a great alternative to wearing sweats and yoga pants!

The lovely Tessa over at Cake for Breakfast is the designer behind this Amoureux pullover. She has amazing designs and this one has fast become my goto piece! These nude sandals from Sole Society have been on heavy rotation lately and I love that they can polish and complete both casual and dressy looks. Spring is here so let the open-toe sandal season begin!

Sugar Coated

Zara blue coat, Joe Fresh knit top, F21 skirt, Michael Kors boots, Tom Ford sunglasses

If you have seen my Instagram feed recently, you'll know how crazy I have been about powder blue. From handbag and nail polish to outerwear, I've been completely drawn to this sugary and light colour that's perfect for spring and summer. This Zara coat is the latest blue addition and is a great transitional piece for spring.  I kept the look sweet and simple for the weekend with a light knit top, window pane knit skirt, and comfortable Michael Kors booties.

COVERGIRL looks at VFW

Just as inspiring as the hair styles were the makeup looks created with COVERGIRL this season at Vancouver Fashion Week. I was lucky to be backstage all week to witness the beautiful transformations as fresh-faced models turn runway ready. Led by makeup director Yasmin Morshedian, a team of artists worked nonstop and created dozens of unique looks. Here are some of my picks:

Beauty Look #1
To create this glam look, the artists first used Olay lotion to prep the skin before applying truBlend liquid foundation and FIXSTICK concealer for a natural and even skin tone. The brows were lightly defined using the brow and eyemakers pencil. Cinnamon toast (156) cheekers was the perfect blush to add warmth while Goldmine (272) eye shadow palette's dark brown was used on the eyelids. The look was completed with dramatic lashes created by the bombshell volume by LashBlast mascara and rich colored lips created by the LipPerfection lipstick.

Beauty Look #2
I love the look of smokey eyes with violet shadow and this one created for Evan Clayton's show was completely on point. The face was first prepped using Olay lotion, truBlend liquid foundation and FIXSTICK concealer. Using the stunning purple shade from the eyeshadow set Fairytale (274), the colors were layered and blended to perfection. To make the eyes pop, artists used the Bombshell intensity liquid liner with precision felt tip applicator and added generous coats of bombshell volume by LashBlast mascara.

My first makeup purchase at age 13 was a blue COVERGIRL eyeshadow and I love that after all these years, there's a familiarity to the packaging and the products continue to impress me in their quality and price. As a Beauty Correspondent for VFW, I had the fun opportunity to try out a ton of COVERGIRL products and my favourites so far are: LipPerfection lipstick in Bombshell (327), Flamed Out Shadow Pencils (305 and 350 are amazing), Bombshell volume by LashBlast mascara, and the Outlast Stay Brilliant nail gloss in all of the colours, of course!

I hope you'll get a chance to try some runway-inspired looks with COVERGIRL!
